History and Affiliations
Federated Church began in 1948 when the recently formed West Lafayette Christian Church “federated” with the West Lafayette Baptist Church to offer a stronger witness in West Lafayette. Originally meeting in the renamed West Lafayette Baptist Church, and despite renovations during the 1950’s, the facility was quickly outgrown. A new building was completed in 1963 and expanded in 1975 at our present location – 2400 Sycamore Lane. Today, the congregation continues its service to the greater Lafayette area and maintains it original affiliations with the Disciples of Christ and the American Baptists.

The church has had several ministers from American Baptist and Disciples of Christ denominations over the years. Federated Church has found ways to share traditions from both denominations such as believer’s baptism and open communion. Federated Church will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2023.
