The Doorbell

“Ding-Dong!!”

You jump out of your seat when you hear the doorbell. What’s going on??  “Did you order a pizza from DoorDash?” asks Dad.  Mom states emphatically, “You got another package from Amazon?!”  “No and no” says the son.  “Then who could be at the door?  What’s going on? Why isn’t our security camera working?”  state Mom and Dad.

And just like that , society has changed drastically.  Bygone are the days when a neighbor, friend or co-worker would just stop by the house and “ring the doorbell”.  Nowadays we have to know about the visit; check our calendar on our cell phone to make arrangements for the visit; and then make sure we will be home for the visit (because we are so busy “running around” we are rarely home).

“Ding-dong

Jesus is at your door.  He will come unexpectedly.

                             Will you answer it?

Are you ready to receive him?

Are you afraid to let Jesus in?

“If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
