It seems that autumn is finally here. it’s my favorite time of year and my favorite color is definitely…October! I do love the fall–changing leaves, crisp, cooler weather, fire pits, football, and yes, pumpkin spice anything.

With each new season, new opportunities for growth and fellowship have come our way at Federated Church! We’ve been uplifted by the music of the Black Voices of Inspiration (Thank you, Kay Hunt, for coordinating!); we celebrated Pastor Appreciation Sunday AND our friend Ting Chen’s ministry among us and his return to his family in China (and thank you to our wonderful Deacons for another delicious reception). We had our first-ever Blessing of the Pets; we were privileged to share in worship last Sunday with the congregation of First Christian Church as we celebrated the dedication of Bonnie Eberhard. Bread and Broth has returned with Wednesday evening delicious dinners and inspiring mission speakers; the Preschool Chili Supper fundraiser gave us the opportunity to eat together while raising needed scholarship funds for deserving families; and we recently enjoyed an evening of fun and fellowship together at Exploration Acres. That is a lot in a relatively short amount of time! But with September and October (nearly) in the rear view mirror, I see new opportunities coming our way for each of us to serve, connect, and be a part of the life of Federated:

The 7th annual Turns or Treat at Country Villa will be held this year on Monday, October 28, 5:00pm-7:00pm. Dress up, decorate your car, and come prepared to give away candy and share the love of Christ with the children at Country Villa. This is such fun for everyone and a chance for us to participate in mission together. See Pauline Shen for details or sign up at Servant Central.

Did you know we have a new social justice ministry called (Living) Faith at Federated? Led by Stephen Eberhard, this group meets each Sunday in the Parlor at noon and all are welcome to come and be “doers of the Word.”

Our Soul Groups will soon be meeting for a second round of sharing, study, and prayer. Don’t forget to sign up at Servant Central. You will be uplifted and blessed!

The Nominating Committee is hard at work, seeking to fill each role on our boards with care and consideration. If you are contacted, prayerfully consider how you can minister through your gifts of time and talent at Federated.

The Family Choir is preparing special music for Christmas. Come and be a part of the joy of the season in song–all singers are welcome!

So many wonderful things are happening in our church; why not invite a friend or neighbor to join you in worship and share with them the good news of Christ through Federated Church?

Blessings,

Barb
